Studio Julius von Bismarck is looking for a technician or assistant with theoretical and practical experience in the fields of mechanical engineering. Our team is looking to grow our technical capacity in the production of complex kinetic sculptures and installations. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, event engineering, theater/stage engineering, or comparable fields . Preferably, you hold a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in the field of mechanical engineering with knowledge in material strength theory.
The studio’s practice focuses on art, architecture, science, and technology to realize artworks by Julius von Bismarck. The work in the studio is defined by a broad spectrum of tasks and offers a diverse range of jobs – typically between civil engineering, „Kunst am Bau“, machine constructions, finding new manufacturing techniques, and realization of public artworks.
Range of tasks:
– Support the development of new constructions or altering the design of pre-existing parts, including, at times, their mechanical validation.
– Researching of parts, manufacturers, prices – and applying design changes accordingly
– Developing new ideas for daily technical problems (e.g. new hanging system in a new exhibition space)
– Preparation of documentations and drawings for our partners or external checking/validation (e.g. structural validation and safety authorities)
We work mainly in Fusion360, Rhino and Blender – if you are more comfortable with different 3D tools or are a beginner in 3D modeling, please do not let this stop you from applying!
